Class FAQs

Can I cancel or reschedule after I’ve booked a class?

We understand that life can be unpredictable and plans may change. To accommodate this, we've established the following policy for cancellations and rescheduling:

Cancellations:
  • Full Refund: Cancellations made more than 7 days before the class start time will be refunded in full.
  • Partial Refund: Cancellations made 2-7 days before the class start time will receive a 50% refund.
  • No Refund: Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the class start time are not eligible for a refund. This policy helps us manage our class sizes and ensure that all interested participants have a chance to join.
Rescheduling:
  • Free Rescheduling: You may reschedule your class without any fee if you notify us at least 2 weeks before the class start time.
  • Rescheduling Fee: A fee of $15 will apply to rescheduling requests made 1 day to 2 weeks before the class start time.
  • Last-Minute Rescheduling: We cannot accommodate rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class start time.

No-Shows:

  • Participants who do not show up for their scheduled class without prior notification are not eligible for a refund or reschedule.

We strive to provide a high-quality experience for all our participants and appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our cancellation and rescheduling policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements.

Do I need to bring any equipment?

None of our classes require attendees to bring equipment. Our lab is stocked with the necessary machines, tools, smallwares, milk, and coffee for us to use during classes. If you have a coffee machine, roaster, or tool that you would like to bring into the lab, please clear it with your instructor beforehand - we can better accommodate these requests during private sessions.

How much experience or knowledge do I need before taking a class?
With the exception of higher levels of SCA certificate courses, no prior coffee experience or knowledge is necessary at all! Our classes are great for everyone, from non-coffee drinkers to professional baristas.

Can we use non-dairy milk for any of the classes?
We provide regular dairy whole milk for our classes. You are welcome to bring your own non-dairy milk to use - depending on the class, plan on bringing anywhere from one quart to one gallon.

I’d like to take the classes I see posted, but I can’t make any of the listed times. Can I schedule a custom session?
Yes, our trainers can schedule custom sessions outside of posted classes:

  • $200 for a 1.5-hour session (2 people included, additional participants add $50/person)
  • $325 for a 2.5-hour session (2 people included, additional participants add $75/person)
  • Content covered can be from the Home Espresso or Latte Art Basics courses - shorter sessions can only accommodate one topic, longer sessions can include both
  • Email learn@opocoffee.com to start the conversation about any custom sessions.

Can you do off-site classes or experiences at my business or home?
Yes, we’d like to work that out if possible! Limitations and additional fees apply. Email learn@opocoffee.com and tell us what you’re thinking.

I’m opening (or have recently opened) a coffee business, and need some training and consulting. Can you help?
Absolutely! We have come alongside dozens of coffee entrepreneurs as they’ve started their cafes, coffee bars, and roasteries. We offer a structured coffee startup coaching and consulting program that can also weave in SCA certificate courses for Brewing and Barista Skills. Whether you’re starting to write a business plan, are building out a space, or have already opened your cafe doors, we can customize the consulting and training experience to fit your needs. Email learn@opocoffee.com and tell us about your project.
